Who is Pixius Communications?
Pixius is a Wichita-based regional Internet Service Provider. They have nearly 6,000 customers, mostly in rural and suburban areas of Kansas. Pixius delivers Internet and network services from more than 55 towers actively broadcasting its signal in south central, northeast and southeast Kansas, as well as southwest Missouri.
Pixius was established in 2000 to address the need for high speed Internet service in underserved areas in Kansas. Using wireless technology, Pixius has the ability to provide, at a competitive price, quality high speed Internet service to areas that are beyond the reach of cable, DSL or 3G cellular.

Pixius kindly asks you to complete the service agreement that you received with February bill from Web Wisp and return it to Web Wisp as soon as possible. The information on the form is required to set up your service in Pixius' systems. Without it, service may be delayed.
Pixius is scheduled to install its equipment on the Elbing water tower in March. As soon as it is installed and tested, you will be contacted to schedule the installation of new equipment at your location.
What is involved in the installation?
Similar to your existing service, but with different technology and equipment, Pixius delivers the internet to your location via a wireless signal. Pixius will contact you to arrange a time to come to your location and install the Pixius equipment as well as remove that owned and used by WebWisp. In short, a small antenna is installed on or near the roof of your home or business. A small cable is run from the antenna into the building. Inside, the cable will be split and connected to a router (that Pixius will give you free) and power supply. A surge suppressor and grounding is included to protect the equipment from lightning or static discharges. Finally, after service is established via the Pixius equipment, the old equipment will be removed. Pixius strongly advises you to have a power strip, with surge protection, available to plug the system into. These are readily available in most hardware and electronic stores.
See how it works on Pixius' website. How it works.
How much will it cost to install?
Pixius has waived the Standard Installation charge and standard router setup fee for all Web Wisp customers returning the form within 30 days. There may be additional charges for 'non-standard' requests or additional services that will be agreed upon prior to any work being started.
Will I need to be present during the install?
Yes. Pixius requires you to be present for the duration of the installation and the removal of Web Wisp's equipment. Access to all equipment is required, both inside and out. A quality check will be performed and explained to you prior to departure.
How will I check my email?
Virtually the same as before. Pixius will setup and move all emails from the @elbingks.com domain onto Pixius email servers. Pixius email is accessibly via the web. Pixius strongly recommends that you download your mail as a precaution to losing any during the transition. We will let you know the date of the transfer when it has been determined. Pixius will take every precaution available to prevent any loss of data during the transition, however, it can not be guaranteed. Please back up your email somewhere other than the email server it is currently on. Pixius support is happy to assist you in this endeavor and may be reached at 800.578.4483
What is Pixius' billing policy?
This is an area that you will notice a difference. Webwisp has typically billed during the current month whereas Pixius normally operates on a pre-pay basis. It sends invoices 20 days in advance of the due date to provide a reasonable time for payment. In an effort to make this transition as convenient as possible, Pixius has agreed to spread the transition from a post-payment environment to a pre-paid process over a 3-month period, per the following table:
| Service Period (Month of) | Invoice From/Payment To | Invoice Sent (approx) | Invoice Due |
| February | Webwisp | Mid February | Upon Receipt |
| March | Webwisp | Early March | Upon Receipt |
| April | Pixius | None (1/3 of charge on next 3 Invoices) | -------------- |
| May (plus 1/3 of April) | Pixius | April 11 | May 1, 2010 |
| June (plus 1/3 of April) | Pixius | May 11 | June 1, 2010 |
| July (plus 1/3 of April) | Pixius | June 11 | July 1, 2010 |
In short, April's fee will be split into thirds and invoiced, 1/3 at a time, on May, June and July's bill. Remember, the invoices will come 20 days before the 1st of the month and due on the 1st.
